“Three Part Harmony” for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Midwifery

By Sarah • on September 13, 2009

This year, the High Country received a gem in the new Harmony, Center for Women’s Health & Vitality. After years of a severe shortage of female OB/GYN doctors, we are so blessed to have three new practitioners right her in Boone.  Harmony_WGP8.2009

Dr. Beverly Womack is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Georgia and medical training at the Medical College of Georgia. She comes to the High Country from Americus, Georgia, where she has practiced for the last eight years.

Dr. Summer Gilmer is a board eligible gynecologist who obtained her B.S. in Biology from Wofford College. She completed medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Gilmer completed her residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, where she served as the chief administrative resident. She is a member of the North Carolina Medical Society and a Junior Fellow with the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Carrington Pertalion is a Certified Nurse Midwife, Womens Health Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Frontier School of Midwifery & Family Nursing in 2002 and has been practicing in Boone.  Since graduation, she joined Harmony in May 2009 and now delivers babies at Watauga Medical Center.  Carrington offers prenatal gynecological care to women of all ages. She is a board certified member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the American Midwifery Certification Board.

“Carrington and I share a passion for partnering with the women in the high country in a proactive way, throughout their life cycle, to help them live the best life possible,” shared Womack. “Our goal is to simply make life better.”

To schedule an appointment (which I really need to do!), call (828) 268-8970.

3D_faceHarmony is also home to the  Baby Faces 3D/4D ultrasound! You can actually see your baby’s features.  It’s not a medical diagnostic procedure, so it’s not covered by insurance. Although you do have to be under the care of a physician, you do not have to be a patient of Harmony Center to have a 3D/4D ultrasound.

Also, become a  fan of Harmony on Facebook!

Disclosure: We are proud to have Harmony Center and Appalachian Regional Healthcare System as Mom Squad Sponsors!

Thanks for sharing Kelly! I have heard so many wonderful things about these women, and I am making my appointment as I come up on my yearly check up date!

I was at Harmony today (new patient) to see Dr. Womack and I was extreemly pleased with my overall experience! Dr. Womack and her nurse were both so very easy to talk to and I never once felt like I was being rushed through my appointment! (That’s a VERY important thing when looking for a Doctor!) I would highly reccomend Harmony to anyone out there who is looking for a great set of Ob/Gyn Doctors and an equally friendly staff that makes you feel well cared for and not like another number! This was one of the BEST OB/GYN experiences that I have had in the Boone area!
