Freebie Friday: Pancakes Breakfast at Applebee’s

In the summer of 2009, one college student uttered the words, “I really want to go to Nicaragua.” At that moment, the wheels were set into motion! With some divine intervention, a few phone calls and lots of prayers, a scouting team was sent from Living Water Christian Fellowship (LWCF) in September. They were very well received and the biggest request- “help us be more creative.” And if any of you know a college of student or remember your life at ages 18-22, you understand how inspiring it was for them to hear a request that they knew they could fulfill.

On December 18, a group of college students from LWCF will leave for a 3-week trip to Nicaragua. This creative, energetic and determined group of young people will be away from their own families and spend Christmas helping others. Their mission is simple: CONNECT. Sure, they have activities planned like dance workshops, drum circles, and children’s activities but their main goal is simply to connect with another culture, learn from them, and love them.

The biggest challenge, as they prepare, is not lack of desire or emotional support but money. To that end, they have 2 major fundraisers planned. The first is NIGHT CAMP on November 20^th from 5:30-9:00. This is more than just a parents’ night out- in addition to the typical games and snacks, there will be “workshops” where kids can learn about art, dance, and music. It is designed so even older kids, who may not need a babysitter, would enjoy this opportunity to learn something new in a safe, fun and engaging atmosphere. The second fundraiser is “Pancakes with a Purpose” at Applebee’s on Saturday, November 21^st from 7-10am. For only $6 a person/ $20 for a family of 4, you can come out and have a full pancake breakfast at Applebee’s. This will be a great way to start your day before you’re off to the ASU game or the Boone Service League Holiday Market. Plus, EVERY KID gets a prize from the treasure chest!
