Bass Lake
Our little family had an afternoon outing at Bass Lake on Sunday and we noticed that the leaves are already starting to change. The kids thought that it was such a treat to see baby ducklings, dogs, and horses all at the same place. I realized once again that it is the simple things in life that bring us pleasure.
I often need that extra little boost to put forth the effort so that we can make simple but special memories with our kids. Seriously, we have all these great little spots around the high country to enjoy and cherish but yet sometimes we all get to caught up in the soccer games and homework or whatever the excuse may be to really take advantage of them.
As we walked around the lake , I realized that before I know it the scenic beauty I see now will take on a different beauty. It seems to me that as soon as Sept. 1st came I could feel a change in the air. I find it refreshing to be moving into the season of fall. I guess you could call it a hope to move onto something new. We had a great summer but now I am ready to move on especially with the routine of school under our belts.
Its comforting for me to watch the seasons come and go in there usual routine. I think its because I know what to expect. Well not exactly in every way but yet in a sense I do know what to expect. For example ,we all know that with the Autumn season we will see a fabulous canvas of color span across our mountains. Of course along with that comes the entourage of tourists that on certain days may be a tad annoying. We know what to expect in our winter’s up here so we know that we need to prepare for that as well. My point is that even though there are some unsettling things going on around us I do believe that its important to take a minute to stop where we are and become centered in what we observe and focus our attention on. It makes a huge difference for me when I am able to do this properly.
Most of us have our own unique ways of getting proper perspective. For some its through nature and then for others it may be dancing,a cup of coffee, or music. I would be curious as to what some of your favorite unwinding moments are. I am always looking for some more to add to my list so please share them with me/us.

Lillie, I can totally relate! I love summer, but it is actually refreshing for me to get back to the regular schedule of the school year.
And the transition between summer and autumn is my very favorite!
