April/May Weekend Events: April Showers do bring May Flowers! 4/30-5/1-2

Well this week has been rather rainy and cold, but I have been seeing so much new life around and colors, yes, beautiful greens and pinks, etc. I love to see God’s creation and just admire how awesome the seasons are!

There are several events happening that will bring us outdoors to enjoy the scenery. Take a look at these activities!

 

MerleFest starts Thursday, April 29th, and continues through Sunday, May 2nd.  MerleFest is in it’s 23rd year and is one of the largest traditional and Americana music festivals in the country, held each year on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro.  The festival features more than 100 artists on 15 stages including Doc Watson and Steve Martin. Tickets can be purchased at the festival gate  opening day with 4-day, 3-day, and 1-day passes ranging in price  from $130 – $250 for the multiple days, and $35 - $50 for 1-day tickets, with kids under 12 free with an accompanying adult. Next is The 37th annual Watauga County Farmers’ Market Opens this Saturday, May 1st, located at Horn in the West in Boone. To help celebrate the opening,  Mountain Alliance will be serving pancakes and local eggs and sausage. The Farmer’s Market will feature a wide variety of produce and products, including new items. Yay! Beech Mountain is having a Birthday…All are invited to the Buckeye Recreation Center for the celebration of the Town’s 29th birthday on Saturday, May 1st,2010. The fun begins at 5:30 pm, with a pot luck dinner at 6:15 pm. Beech Mtn. will provide a Birthday Cake for dessert along with iced tea and lemonade.  The Town looks forward to seeing everyone! Last but not least, Studio K presents their  Spring Ballet Recital with the “Beauty and the Beast” and “Carnival of the Animals” shows at ASU’s Farthing Auditorium. The performances take place on Saturday, May 1st, at 7 pm and on Sunday, May 2nd, at 3 pm.
