2009 “A Cool 5″ 5k Race and More!
It’s still not too late to sign up for early registration in the 2009 A Cool 5! However, it’s getting close! Early registration will be ending on May 15th. This year we are providing you with the convenience of online registration in which you can access from www.ACool5.com, www.active.com, and www.offnrunningsports.com.
The race weekend will be filled with fun events and activities sure to please the entire family! The festivities will begin with our Pasta Dinner on Friday, June 5th at the Buckeye Recreation Center. The pasta dinner will feature guest speaker Margaret Hagerty. Margaret is an inspirational speaker that can share her many stories of overcoming adversity, and even smoking, on her way to the Guinness Book of World Records honor as the oldest female to complete a marathon on each continent. The pasta dinner will also include live bluegrass music and games for the entire family. Tickets for the Pasta Dinner are $5 and can be purchased the evening of the dinner or in advance with your race registration.
Race day will feature the 5 mile run and a 1.5 mile fun run and walk just as last year. Post-race festivities will include race awards, live music, a cook-out, and games and activities for people of all ages. As always; Beech Mountain offers you miles upon miles of hiking and biking trails, the Buckeye Recreation Center, public tennis courts, lakes, parks, and many dining options for you to enjoy throughout the weekend as well!
